Centre Stage with Maria Warburton

Maria Warburton, Hamilton Island Competition Winner

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to one of our fabulous Island Holiday winners, Maria Warburton. Maria has over 10 years’ experience as a registered nurse and has worked with Caring for You on and off over this time.

Let’s get to know Maria a little better …

So, Maria, what gets you out of bed in the mornings?

After losing my husband 2 years ago, I came to the conclusion that you have to enjoy what today brings as there may not be a tomorrow.

What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your resume alone?

I have 4 grandchildren and I play golf most Saturdays.

What is your favourite part about working for C4U?

The flexibility to spend more time with my family.

What drew you to C4U initially?

I worked for C4U 10 years ago and the staff were always friendly, and they offer the opportunity to work across different areas of Nursing.

Why would you recommend C4U?

No other company that I know of would offer their staff the opportunity to win something as amazing as a trip to Hamilton Island 😊

And lastly, best thing about winning the Hamilton Island Trip?

After what I have had happen in my personal life in the last 2 years, it gave me the opportunity to get away and relax and meet some amazing people who also work for C4U!

Thank you Maria, we are pleased that we were able to add a little fun and relaxation into what has no doubt been an emotional time for you over the past 2 years. We are very proud to have you on our team and we loved your photos!

7 Tips To Prevent Yourself From Getting Sick This Winter

7 Tips To Prevent Yourself From Getting Sick This Winter

As we move further into the miserable and cold months of winter, it becomes more difficult to prevent yourself from getting sick. With more and more people coming down with the flu and those terrible colds, it’s time to take action against those dreaded viruses. After all, no one wants to be a coughing, sniffling mess – do they?

Here are our 7 tips to prevent you from getting sick this winter!

  1. Always wash your hands.

A little bit of personal hygiene can go a long way in preventing the spread of germs.  Make sure you avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose without washing your hands. For extra protection against germs, keep a hand sanitiser on you for emergencies.

  1. Get vaccinated with the flu shot.

This is one of the best ways to avoid getting the flu. Although it’s not 100% effective, it will definitely decrease your chances of getting sick this winter.

  1. Get enough sleep.

A good night’s rest is an essential part of keeping healthy all year round, especially in the colder months. Getting enough rest allows the body to restore itself over the night and bring your immunity levels back up. A sleep-deprived body is be more inclined to catch bad germs and infections, so we don’t want that!

  1. Eat healthy meals and get enough good nutrients.

Make sure that you are eating plenty of healthy, nutritious food. This will help boost your immunity to resist getting sick and improve your general well being. Try to steer clear of a lot of sugar and drinking too much alcohol – this can have a negative effect on your health.

  1. Continue to exercise regularly.

A regular, moderate amount of exercise can help improve your body’s defences against viruses and boost your immune system. A burst of energy in your day will increase your circulation and blood flow throughout your body. Really, just sweat it out!

  1. Keep surroundings clean.

Clean and disinfect areas and surfaces, especially those that get touched by a lot of people (e.g. door handle).  This will help to prevent the spread of germs in your home and workplace.

  1. Stay hydrated.

Try and drink plenty of fluids to stay healthy. A great beverage to have in the wintertime is a hot green tea with lemon and honey – it contains antioxidants and can act as an antibacterial.

Meet the Team – Heather McGill

Hi There, My name is Heather and I’ve been working as an Allocation Consultant for 5yrs, I think (time fly’s when you’re having fun)!

Prior to joining C4U I’ve had a long & varied full time career in banking & Sales & Marketing but when I decided to make a lifestyle change & looked for part time work & flexibility, C4U was the perfect fit.  Our CEO Louise Thomson recognises that not one size fits all & therefore we’re all encouraged to be individuals but still work as a team, be professional but still have fun which makes for a great working environment & as the saying goes “if you look after your employees, they will look after your clients” . It’s true, we do and our enthusiasm to help our members wherever possible means they are happy to represent C4U out in the workforce too.

Something not many people would know about me is that my colleagues have affectionately named me H-Dawg because I love R & B music. Basically, all music makes me happy but R & B gets me dancing!

Meet the Team – Bel King

Bel King – Senior Allocations Consultant

How long have you been with Caring for You?

Hi I’m Bel King (real name is Belinda but shh don’t tell anyone, I’ve always been called Bel and Bells). I’ve been working for Caring for You as an Allocations Consultant for 17 months.

I moved from Perth coming up to six years, with my husband and two sons to be closer to family.

Tell us more!

I’m really into food and wine and back in Perth I managed restaurants. After years in hospitality, I felt it was time for a change so I kinda fell into Admin. I then applied at C4U in Allocations and what a ride that’s been. I really love my job, the girls and the one guy in Allocations make it real easy to show up. You are always greeted with a smile and a few laughs shared throughout the day. When I am not working I love cooking, listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

One of my fav things about C4U is the free food and birthday cake (hahahaha). I’m known as the golden child, which will catch on soon.

All in all I don’t always take myself so seriously, but I pride myself as having a strong work ethic, and being a dedicated team member.
